Hamilton pricing guide · Updated August 2026

What should artificial turf cost?

Published Hamilton and Southern Ontario pricing supports a practical budget range, but square-foot rates only become useful after the base, drainage, access and complete scope are defined.

NorthLawn planning ranges

Use these figures for early budgeting.

All figures are Canadian dollars, generally before HST, and are planning guidance rather than fixed offers. Final pricing requires current product costs, confirmed dimensions and site review.

Premium landscape or pet$17 to $22 / ft²

Higher-specification turf, drainage, cleaning or application requirements.

Recommended compact minimum$2,950 + HST

A project minimum helps cover mobilization, delivery, equipment, disposal and skilled labour.

Compact putting green$26 to $35+ / ft²

Typical under 400 square feet, depending on contours, cups, fringe, base and finishing.

Turf supply only$5.50 to $8.50 / ft²

Turf before accessories, delivery, cut planning, waste and installation materials.

Commercial and specialtyScope first

Traffic, testing, documentation, access, phasing and supporting systems can dominate price.

What changes the installed price

Excavation and disposal

Existing soil, concrete, roots and depth determine labour, hauling and disposal.

Access and mobilization

Narrow gates, stairs and long carrying distances reduce production efficiency.

Drainage and grading

Low areas, runoff, downspouts and transitions can require more preparation.

Edges and seams

Curves, obstacles, roll orientation and perimeter conditions change material and labour.

Why the lowest rate can cost more

A quote that excludes excavation depth, disposal, aggregate type, compaction, seam materials, edging, infill or warranty documents is not directly comparable with a complete-system quote. Compare the defined assembly, not only the headline rate.

Price confidence rule

Ask every bidder to identify the exact turf product, base system, included work, exclusions, warranty documents and what happens if concealed conditions are discovered.

Research basis

The ranges above were established from published Hamilton and Ontario market references, then normalized into a conservative NorthLawn planning position. Published figures vary because scope definitions vary.

Known: these sources were publicly available when reviewed August 29, 2026. Missing: NorthLawn’s final price book still requires verified current supplier costs, crew production rates, disposal, overhead and target margin.
